I am a day late but I went on a 4th grade field trip yesterday with my DD. I just wanted to say Way to go David Cook! He was my favorite one in the top 12!
Today's post is late because I was at my children's school all morning helping with field day. It is very windy here today and my job was to man the parachute station. Let me just say... I am exhausted! I would love to take a nap but I have to get some work done and then head out to a t-ball game tonight.
I got another box in the mail today from Houseparty.com. Still more stuff for my Margaritaville party. My magazine debut......

When I managed a high energy night club I would submit pictures and articles to Nightclub and Bar Magazine and they would get published. I never sent a picture of myself or gave a statement about myself. Just about the nightclub.
Today I got my All You magazine in the mail and I can be found on page 72 with a quote about how I work from home. Granted, it is not the best picture I have ever taken. My DD took it for me so maybe we can just blame it on that! Go now... check it out!!!

Going to Texas?

If I were going to Texas this summer, I would make sure we stopped in Orange, Texas to see the Stark Museum. As the economy gets worse, it makes me want to read the The Complete Tightwad Gazette again. Sure, it is a little dated but, it is still filled with a ton of information you can use to live a more frugal life in tough times. I am still looking for a copy of my own. I have read it 2 times already but would love to read it again. I may just use some Pay Per Post earnings to buy a copy at Amazon. Here is the spinach DH picked in the garden yesterday. It should be about 2 weeks worth of salads for DS. We have another row that will be ready in about a week and a half. Gardening really does pay off!

Oh, the possibilities......

So, tonight I am looking for ideas for unique birthday party invitations for my kids upcoming birthday parties. I was thinking a recent photo of my son on the front and then all the party details inside. The possibilities are limitless!
My niece got married this past weekend. The more I thought about these cards, the more ideas I came up with. Would a picture like this one.......

.... make a great thank you card for everyone that attended the wedding. I had a very hard time getting a good picture of the newly married couple and would love it if I got one of these in the mail from them!
I also recently saw a Photo Cards on a friends kitchen table. It was not a holiday so it grabbed my attention that she just got a Photo Cards. To my surprise, it was a couple announcing the purchase of a new puppy. I just got a new puppy too but that is a little over the top for me. That couple have no children except their dogs!
Speaking of children, wouldn't these make great birth announcements! I know, many are meant for holiday cards but, you can write anything you want on these. It does not have to say "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Valentine's Day"!
Oh, the possibilities you have when chosing to use photo cards!!!!

More rain here in PA today. Luckily I hung 3 loads of laundry outside yesterday and I am all caught up. I continue to pick fresh asparagus from the garden. I have just about enough to fill a 2nd gallon size freezer bag full for use in the future. We filled one about 2 weeks ago too.

Here is what I got at my local Surefine grocery store this am. I had $9.80 in store sales savings and $7.00 in manufacturer coupons for a total of $25.62. I went there to check out the B1G2F on the Hatfield hot dogs. For $2.69 I got 3 packs of hot dogs!! Not bad! DS was home from school sick today and he picked the Shrek mac and cheese out but even that was on sale 4 for $3.00. I had coupons for the muffin mixes, baked beans, salad dressing, soft pretzels and Nesquick. The Spray in wash will be free after a mail in rebate. All in all, I thought I got pretty much for $25.

Tightwad Tuesday.....

DH started carpooling to work today. I hope this works out for him. He is used to just getting in his car and going whenever he wants so, this may be a bit of an adjustment for him. Gas hit $3.75 here yesterday. I think that was what made him finally decide to do it.
This past weekend we stopped at 2 garden centers to look for flowers for the pots on my deck. The first place had no geraniums at all. The 2nd place had them but, they were $3.50 each!! 2 Years ago I paid 99 cents each and last year they were a little higher but still under $1.50 each. I refuse to pay $3.50 each! I will just keep looking!
DH grew almost all out garden plants from seed in our basement under grow lights. While at the garden center, we looked at the prices of tomato plants. Last year, they were $1.99 for a 6 pack. This year, they are $1.99 for a 3 pack! 100% price increase! We have some for sale, at the end of our driveway, for much less than that!
The kids and I woke up with a cold today. We all had one of these... First Aid Refill - Cold-Eze Cherry Flavor Lozenges plus the kids had one of these.... One-A-Day Kids Scooby-Doo! I hope everyone had a great mothers day!! We had a very busy weekend here. DH planted the last of the garden. We have over 20 tomato plants and over 10 pepper plants along with many other veggies. Most is for our own consumption but we do sell some in a little stand at the end of our driveway.
This morning I was up early and made chocolate chip muffins, chocolate pudding and low fat dip for veggies. Helps a little on the grocery budget. Buying those items in the store costs a heck of a lot more.

This is the back of the door to my spice cabinet. I bought this rack when we moved into this house because I was determined I was going to be more organized in this house. This has worked out great!!
This is the bottom shelf in the cabinet. I have racks in here that look like steps so I can see what is behind the front row. It is not as good as I had hoped but it still works ok for me. I keep the most used stuff in the front row. There are probably a few things in the back row that should be thrown away but what if I need them? i have samples of Mrs Dash under the rack as well as a pack of straws.

How do you store your spices?

I was out running errands today. One stop was a local grocery chain to use some coupons. Look what I remembered to use today.... my cloth bags!! Yeah! I even bought the 2 green ones at the store to add to my collection since they were only 99 cents each. They are already back in my car!

Here is what I bought with coupons. This is everything I can home with. The total before sales and coupons was $56.92. Minus $4.10 in store sales and $33.76 in coupons and I paid $19.06 out of pocket! Great trip for a mostly real food shopping trip!! Wish me luck on that soy milk! I got them for 25 cents each after the printable coupons. I think the regular one I am going to sneak into the gallon of milk in the fridge. I was hoping thDH and DD would like the Vanilla one. I may just let them try both before trying to be a sneak.
I also had an appointment at an outgrown shop so they can sell my kids summer clothes from last year. They are very picky and are sometimes hard to deal with but it is extra money! They had $11.75 for me from last seasons sales. I bought all these items for $24.59. I have been having a problems finding cheap used clothing this year for my kids to wear to play in even after going to many yard sales. So, while this is not as cheap as I like to get things, it is still cheaper than buying new. I got 3 pairs of jean shorts, a jean skort, 3 tops, 2 puzzles and a book.
