Remember the post where I told you to go to http://www.greenbaglady.org/ to get a free cloth grocery bag? Well, mine came late last week! I am bag # 1048. Here is what it looks like! If you have not gone there.. go now. She will send you one too!! FREE! Thanks green bag lady!!! Update: The first time I posted about the bag lady, I emailed her first to see if I could list her link on my blog. I did not do that today nor did I check her blog before listing it today. I am sorry to say the the bag lady is not accepting orders at this point. I have a feeling she is trying to catch up on the orders she does have. She is doing this work free of charge and out of the goodness of her heart in order to try to save the planet... one bag at a time. She is still accepting material donations so if you have any extra material laying around you might want to send it to her (directions to do so on her blog!) and put it to good use!

The pile above is what I picked up at Walmart today. I am not a regular Walmart shopper but I have been reading about the deals people have been getting so I decided to do it too. About half my coupons were printed from the internet. My Total before coupons was $56.21. Minus the $15.35 I spent in school supplies (DS begged for the Incredible Hulk lunch box!), and minus $21.42 in coupons and the final out of pocket for all this stuff was..... $19.44. I did not have coupons for the eggs, lunch meat or Del Monte spaghetti sauce but they were items I needed and the prices were good so I grabbed them. Update: I forgot to add that I will get the full $2 back from the Lunchables with a mail in rebate I printed on line.

Yesterday, I took a few minutes of my time to email the president of my local grocery store and kindly asked that he consider accepting internet printed coupons at his store. I will not go into great detail about what I wrote but I was very nice. To my surprise, I got an email back a few short hours later stating that they do accept them if they are under a $5 value and he is sorry if I have had problems with this in the past. So, I printed out his letter and stuck it in my coupon folder to carry with me next time. I am so happy to hear the official word is that they are accepting them!! That puts a lot of value on internet coupons for me now! Just wanted to add: we as coupon users also have a responsibility to not abuse coupons in a way that the store will not get paid for them. Do not print coupons you know are fake and do not photocopy a real coupon. Abusing the system will only make the stores not want to take these coupons and that hurts all of us.

I am desperately looking for Coke rewards codes. If you have a any you will not use, I would be happy to enter them instead of letting them go to waste. They can be found on any Coca Cola line of soda, Minute Maid juices and Dasani water.
This morning I have started a batch of strawberry ice cream made with strawberries I saved from the garden. It is my first time making strawberry so I am not sure how it will turn out. I will take pictures later and give an update!

We had a great freebie day yesterday. We stopped at the library to exchange books and they had coupons for free ice cream at Chik-fil-A. Fist we had to head to the dentist for DS's check up, where these kids each got a free tooth brush, then we headed a few blocks away for our free ice cream. Next we stopped at a nearby deli that I had $10 gift card for. I picked up exactly $10 worth of food and headed home. In the mail I got a free sample from Walmart and a free Renuzit air freshener to test. You got to love free stuff!!!

I got all this at Target yesterday. The total before coupons was $33.09 but after coupons, I only paid $7.26 out of pocket. I was very happy with that total!!!

Family Fun Day......

Since we canceled the family vacation this year due to the new puppy, we have decided to do a few day trips. I took the kids to the beach earlier in the week while Dh stayed home with the puppy. Friday DS had a cardiology appointment 1 hour and 20 minutes from home so we decided we would all go and stop off at a few fun places too. The Dr appointment went very well so we headed to Hershey Garden's in Hershey, PA.


Here is DD playing music in the garden. She is always dressed to the nine's!!

This is DS in the Butterfly house. We had a great time here. If you look closely at the picture, you can see a several butterflies that DS is looking at. We could have spent hours in this place!!

We then headed home to enjoy some time in the pool before heading back out for a quick dinner and a round of mini golf!

On the way home, we stopped off at my favorite Amish farm to buy all this for $7.00. I will be happy when I have my own ripe tomatoes but, until then, I will enjoy these.

These were then picked from our garden!! DH will grill some tonight, some will become chocolate Zucchini bread and some will be sold at our stand. Go here...

I saw a piece on the Today show this morning on coupons. The "expert" suggested going to coupons.com to print coupons and stated that it is the new "in thing" to use coupons. Hello Mr. Expert! First, I think the guy worked for coupons.com and was just tooting his own horn. 2nd.. coupons a new "in thing"... when were they not "in"? 3rd.... does he realize that many stores will not even take printed coupons? I can use them at some stores but there are more stores here that do not take them than do.
I think it is great that more people are gardening and using coupons. I just wish it didn't take a bad economy to have people make the change.

I was just thinking about how much fun it would be to rent a convertible or a luxury car on my next beach vacation. That would sure make driving a few hours a lot more fun! Bathroom remodeling.....

I have been wanting to redo my first floor powder room since the day I moved into this house. 8 years later I am still trying to get that done. Beach pictures and a few freebies......

This is where we landed Monday morning. It rained almost all the way to the beach but the weather was great once we got to the beach!

This was where we stayed the night on Monday and spent all day Tuesday before heading home. We had a great 2 days at the beach!!!

I found this box of Frosted Flakes On Sunday at my local grocery store. The kids and DH love this cereal so $3.59 was something I was willing to pay..........

Our new puppy Abby at 3 weeks old.

Abby at 7 weeks old. This was the day we brought her home. She looks so sad. I think she was missing her puppy mommy.

Abby today. 3 months old. Boy has she grown and changed colors too. In general she is a pretty calm dog but dogs have moments of being a little terror! We have had to hide all our shoes!
