There are 43 confirmed Swine Flu cases in our county. The newspaper goes on to say that there are now 2 confirmed cases outside of our school district. I guess I am then to assume that the other 41 cases are in our school district. The CDC came to our school district last week and is using our outbreak as a case to study and learn on. Therefore, they tested lots of people that would not normally be tested. Most people never see a Dr when they have the flu. The CDC called people and asked them to come to a location to be tested so that they could get a more accurate number of how many were really sick and exactly what were their symptoms.
At one point, we considered pulling my "at risk" DS out of school for the remainder of the school year. We have since changed our mind and realize there is no way to hide from this. We just have to know, we need to be proactive with it once there are any symptoms. He is someone who would be treated with tama flu if he showed symptoms or if any of our family was diagnosed with flu.
This morning my DD work up not feeling well. We went to the Dr after DS went to school. We are happy to say, she tested negative for flu and strep. She will be returning to school tomorrow. False alarm. Thank goodness.
Thanks for all the emails asking about how we are doing with this. I will continue to keep you posted on the situation.
