Thursday......

Something got over the fence around our garden and destroyed our indian corn crop. We used this corn and stalks for fall decorations. We will be able to salvage some of it but the biggest loss are the beans that were growing up the corn stalks. They were beans that we dry and store for beans soups. We are pretty sure it was raccoons. UGH!

Then, I went to take a shower last night while my DS was playing in the tub. After my shower, I yelled down the hall "are you ok?". He yelled back "Yes, I am just shaveing!" I thought nothing of it since he has one of these... Li'l Shaver's Shaving Kit: Featuring the Mock 5 and loves to play with it. I proceeded to get dresssed and work my way down the hall to the other bathroom where I found him with real shaving cream on his face and pieces of his hair (that used to be attatched to his head!) on his face. I say "what did you do?" He explained to me, his razor did not work so he grabbed this... Gillette Venus Embrace Razor and shaved for real! Yes, I know, my razor should have been out of reach but, it really was hidden and was never a problem before in his 7 years of life. Now I have to hide that razor in a better spot and hope I remember where it is when I want to shave again! DH also had to fix DS's sideburns since he did a pretty good job on them with the real razor!

Monday.....

School starts tomorrow for us!! I do not want to sound too excited but YIPPEE!!!! The kids are just as excited as I am! Part of me will really miss them but part of me is looking forward to having some time to myself!!
The big reason I am happy kids go back to school this week... I talk to 200 people a day, reminding them of a Dr. appointment. 1/3 of those call is talking to the kids in the house. Young kids like to refuse to get an adult because they want to talk on the phone too. I have learned that very few children under the age of 5 can say pediatrics correctly. Then there are the teens. No matter what I say to them, every teenager says "what?". When I repeat it, they start talking over me or hand the phone over to a parent who only heard half of what I said so now I get to say the whole thing over for the 3rd time!
Why not ask for the parent in the first place? I do if I think I have a child but so many kids say they are not home even when I can hear the parent in the backround. I have also asked at least 10 parents a day if their mom or dad are home.
I found this post from Chris..... The fossils are probably the bones of people who died waiting to be seen who tells what it is like to be on the recieving end of one of these calls.

I stopped at CVS this morning after gymnastics class to use a few coupons. All this was $15.47 before coupons and only $4.48 after coupons. I also walked out with $3.00 in ECB to use next time. Not the best but still pretty good.
Here is how I did it.....
*Alavert - $5.99 on sale minus $4.00 internet coupon plus get $3 ECB when you buy
*50ct CVS Ibuprofen - $3.99 minus $3.49 from free 24 ct coupon I got last week
*Soft Soap body wash - $5.49 minus $1.50 CVS coupon
PLUS.. I had $2.00 in ECB from my last week's trip.
The store was out of the 12 and 24 count Ibuprofen I was supposed to get free with my August rewards coupon and it was expiring today so I asked the cashier if she would take the amount off the higher count and she said sure - with a smile too!!! Thanks nice CVS cashier!!!

I forgot to take the before picture but my kitchen island was a sea of fresh tomatoes, red onion, and peppers. Now.... Yummy... I have 3 containers of garden fresh salsa this morning! What a great way to use up the sea of tomatoes. It makes my mouth water just to look at it!
Recipe.....
diced tomatoes
died peppers
diced red onions
dried cilantro to taste
garlic salt to taste
Serve with a bag of low fat tortilla chips and you have a healthy snack (although, I eat it as a meal!)

We got one of these..... Odesa Fire Bowl this past weekend. Saturday night we all sat around it relaxing, have a few beverages and roasting marshmallows to make s'mores. DS must have had a very good time because on Sunday he announced to us.... "When I marry Alexis ( a friend of his big sister), we are going to sit around a fire on Saturday nights too!"

Monday deals......

I got all this for $3.85 after coupons. I had 2 free coupons from sign ups, free items with 3 kraft product coupons and a few high value coupons from emailing companies. The kool aid was on sale 10/$1.00 so I got 15 so they would count as my buy 3 kraft items and for that I got the cheese, hot dogs, wheat thins, crystal light and salad dressing all free! These items will help my pantry look full again!

Yes, I did buy other groceries but I did not really think you would want to see all my groceries. I used several other coupons for my regular groceries and a few were even printed from the internet. This was the store I emailed to ask them to start taking internet coupons. I am happy to say, they accepted the coupons with no problem at all. Yeah!!

I also saved 24 cents by using my own bags today too!!

Thursday.....

I stopped at CVS this morning to buy a few things. My receipt says I saved $14.69 today with sales and coupons but I still spent $17.32. It was all things I use though so I guess it was not as bad as it sounds. I did get my free coupon for the month of August... I got free 24ct of CVS brand Ibuprofen. I love getting free stuff but.. it expires next week already!! UGH! With gas prices as high as they are, I just do not get to CVS as often as I used to. I will have to make it a point to stop next Thursday after DD's gymnastic class.

Moments like this are extra special for him since he has already had 4 open heart surgeries in his young life. I like to catch them all on film and I was just lucky to catch this moment!
