Green gardens......

Shangri La Botanical Gardens & Nature Center is a wonderful place to visit. Located in Orange, Texas, Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center is the first project in Texas and the 50th project in the world to earn the U.S. Green Building Council's Platinum certification for LEED®-NC, which verifies the design and construction of Shangri La reached the highest green building and performance measures. Shangri La offers an array of outstanding educational opportunities for everyone, including teachers, students, and the general public. From educator workshops to science summer camps , the goal of Shangri La is to become a world-class educational facility that exemplifies environmental stewardship and engages, inspires, and enlightens students and adults alike. Shangri La is also host to special programs the entire community can enjoy, such as the Earth Week celebration in April where you will discover how eco friendly they are and learn more about their history in Orange, Texas.
Nestled within 252 acres in the heart of Orange, Texas, Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center is a place you will love! With a tranquil sanctuary with over 300 types of plants and a wide variety of wildlife, it offers a retreat from the routines of daily life.
Shangri La Gardens and Nature Center even has a great website! My kids loves the "Guess the animal page! Go here Shangri La Gardens and Nature Center then click on kids and then click on "guess the animal". We had a lot of fun with this. See how many you can get correct!
We also enjoyed looking through the picture gallery on their website. If you can not make it to the Garden itself, the website is the next best thing. If you enjoy nature, you will really enjoy Shangri La!! I have included just a few of their pictures here. Go here Shangri La Gardens and Nature Center to see many more. It is easy to lose track of time while enjoying their website!!
