It is seed catalog season!! This one is my Dh's (the seed guru) favorite...... Seed Savers Exchange. They have all heirloom seeds and promote the idea of saving your own seeds from your crops instead of buying them each year. What a great "green" idea! When you buy seeds from places like Burpee, you can not do this since they genetically alter the seeds so that the seeds from the first year crop will not produce fruit for you. We have tried. You get a nice plant with little to no fruit on it.

Dh would like to become a master gardener but we are not sure about the time committment. With a very demanding job, a family and coaching DS's baseball team in the spring.... well, there just is not much time left do do anything besides mow the grass and work on your own garden.

With the economy how it is, there is not better time to try your hand at gardening! A few plants could really help your grocery bill! Some lettuce, a few tomatoes, peppers and cabbage!

We were just talking about what all we wanted to plant and what we needed to do to get our garden into shape. I love Seed Savers too. And the Cooks Garden (I think that is the name). Great companies. My problem is that I always start more seedlings than I have room for outside.
