10 Things I do to Save Money.....

10 little things I do to save money........

1. Hang clothing outside to dry as often as I can. As it gets colder out, I try to at least hang the towels and jeans outside since they take the most dryer time. Like here.... Frugal Finds From your Frugal Friend: Friday the 13th......

2. We use very few paper plates in a year and minimal paper towels. Glass plates are used and washed here and messes are cleaned up with kitchen towels. We do use paper napkins but are considering the switch to cloth.

3. I use half the amount of laundry detergent and dishwasher soap that is suggested. I have no issues with thing coming clean with these amounts.

4. I do my laundry in cold water.

5. We have a large garden each year and preserve as much as we can for the cold months. We also have fruit trees. Like here.... Frugal Finds From your Frugal Friend: Tackle it Tuesday.... and here.... Frugal Finds From your Frugal Friend: Monday.....

6. We try not to turn our heat on until November 1st - although, we do not make it to that date every year. Once the heat is turned on, we keep it set about 65 during the day and down to 62 at night. We stay warm with a fireplace in our living room, dress in layers and have nice warm flannel sheets and extra blankets on our beds.

7. We use lots and lots of coupons! We save a ton of money each week by doing this. Like here...

8. Most of the time, I color my own hair. With a coupon, I can usually buy a box of hair color for just a few dollars.

9. Make larger batches of snack food at home instead of buying snack size portions. Like here....

10. Shop local second hand stores, discount grocery store and local produce stands in order to save money. Local produce stands support the local farmers and provide fresher produce at cheaper costs. Love this post, especially the paper towel idea. We do the same thing, as well as use cloth napkins. They make me feel so well-mannered!
